Short description
Tasty plant-based patties, suitable as a main dish, in sandwiches or burgers, or served with a fresh salad.

Ingredients

  • 250 g cooked lentils, beans, or chickpeas
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 4–5 tbsp oats or breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce, optional
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp summer savory
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1–2 tbsp oil or olive oil

Method

  1. Mash the cooked legumes with a fork or blend them lightly. They do not need to become completely smooth.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion, garlic, grated carrot, and spices.
  3. Add the oats or breadcrumbs and mix well.
  4. Let the mixture rest for 10–15 minutes so it can firm up.
  5. Shape the mixture into patties with your hands.
  6. Arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush them lightly with oil.
  7. Bake for about 25–30 minutes at 190°C, turning them halfway through.

Tip
For a crispier crust, roll the patties in breadcrumbs or corn flour before baking.
