You know that I love baked goods, especially when they are vegan. That means I run to new places selling vegan sweets! Thursday, August 2nd marked the opening of Vegan Divas on the Upper East Side of NYC.
The small spot is owned by Brazilian pastry chef Fernanda Capobianco. Capobianco knows a thing or two about the sweets’ business since she is married to Francois Payard. Capobianco founded Vegan Divas back in 2010. She sold her goods in healthy markets around they city, but didn’t have a stand alone bakery until now. Her goal is to create pastries like you find in gourmet bakeries, except without animal products and a bonus they are lower in calories and fat than their non-vegan counterparts. They also offer a few savory items and juice, so you could make a whole meal out of your visit. You’ll feel good knowing no animals were harmed in the making of your food and walk out with your sweet tooth satisfied too!
At the opening party Tuesday I got a chance to try several things and let’s just say you’ll be hungry after you read about this eating adventure. Enjoy:
Vegan Divas is located at 1437 First Avenue between 74th and 75th Street
