It’s a new Peruvian restaurant from established Latin Chef and Owner Richard Sandoval and Chef Jaime Pesaque, who owns a restaurant in Lima, Peru (doesn’t get more authentic than that).
The restaurant also features a very unique liquor that I had never heard of before, Pisco. It’s a Peruvian, grape based brandy and it’s strong! They have 30 infusions of the liqeuor and a big cocktail list made with Pisco as well. I started with the Strawberry Lychee Cocktail made with Pisco Porton, cointreau, lime and mint. I loved it. Totally reminded me of a mojito-type drink.
I also had the Solterito spring vegetable salad with fava beans, tomatillo, sugar snaps, avocado, queso fresco, potato with a white balsamic vinaigrette. Without the queso this is vegan.
For my main course I had the mixed vegetable saltado with ginger and soy (vegan). My husband declared this one of the most colorful dishes he’s ever seen and it did have a variety of flavors. This was a very tasty and filling stir fry.
As for dessert we had the Arborio Rice Pudding with golden raisins and brown butter ice cream. This wasn’t your traditional rice pudding. It was layered beautifully. Can you believe we ate it so quick I forgot to take a picture. Take my word for it though, the brown butter ice cream that came with it was one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had. My hubby didn’t know was brown butter was, so I told him. It’s literally butter that has been browned in a pan on the stove! Honestly if I go back I would ask if I can have a couple scoops of this ice cream because I couldn’t get enough of it.
By the way we also got Peruvian Crispy Donuts. If you order these know they are not the donuts you are used to. They are very crispy and not-so-sweet.
Note: For dessert there are no vegan options, but the drinks are all so tasty you can get a sweet flavor for your night cap!
