There are some really interesting meat-free articles out there today that I wanted to share. These are must reads for vegetarians, vegans and just those who are interested in the topic.
Time Magazine has a story this week that has a couple topics that could revolutionize vegetarian food. They both involve meat substitutes, including something called in-vitro food that I have to admit I knew nothing about. It also tackles whether vegetarians will go for fake meat. I always say the answer to that depends on why you are a vegetarian. I stay away from meat because I don’t like the way animals are killed in this country for us. I know the soy and other products manipulated to look and taste like meat are highly processed but that’s ok by me. As long as there are more options for more people to become meat-free I’m all for it. If, however,
you avoid meat because you want to eat as pure and healthy as possible I can see why you wouldn’t like these products. Either way I say it’s up to the individual and you shouldn’t criticize why they make the decisions they make in terms of food. Great article about how hard it is to eat meat-free in school cafeterias and what your rights are:
Despite being an ambassador to the environment Al Gore said this week he has no intentions of becoming a vegetarian.
Boo! Get the details here:

I always have to explain to people what Tempeh is made of. I was pleasantly surprised to see an article on the product in the newspaper where I went to college, The Gainesville Sun. I hope students at the University of
Florida are eating lots of this!
